Skorcher Machine – Better Butt, Better Body?

June 18, 2008

It’s the latest piece of kit from the States, for any self respecting gym bunny that wants a pert and lifted bottom to be proud of…

It’s called the Skorcher and it’s been receiving a lot of positive press since Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe decided to buy one, in preparation for his nude debut on Broadway!

It looks like a cross between a Pilates barrel and a leg extension machine, and will no doubt sell like hot cakes, but let me make one thing quite clear…

It’s simply another way of wrapping up a whole host of basic exercises and making them appear fresh, exciting and sexy.

In all honesty you can get just as good a workout with a mat and a swiss ball.

In FACT, every exercise demonstrated on the Skorcher website is currently done by you, in session, with me;

Chest Press, floor bridge, rear leg raise, step up, bulgarian lunge, back extension, crunch…

Whether you remember the exercise names or not, believe me, you’ve done all of these, and more, during your one-to-one sessions.

In fact, the machine’s signature exercise is called ‘the hip thrust’…

Now… HOW MANY TIMES have you heard me say to you during squats, deadlifts and KB exercises… ‘thrust those hips’???

You see, the fitness industry makes millions every year from your average person who gets bored of working out on the same machines, doing the same exercises, hoping to find something new and interesting to stimulate their minds and bodies.

The truth is, a lot of these fitness gizmos are simply remodelled and restyled with slight alteration, to be then marketed as ‘the next BIG thing’. Then, 6 months later, they become your latest fashion ‘must have’ – that ‘unique’ clothes horse that’s gathering dust in the spare room!

No offence to the makers of the Skorcher. It’s a clever idea, and if that’s what makes people happy, then who am I to stand in the way of renewed enthusiasm for working out??

To visually road test the Skorcher for yourself, take a look at http://www.skorcher.com/

Just don’t let me see one sitting in your spare room…
